IHSAA KNOCKS OUT POST 168!!
The following letter is being submitted to numerous media outlets in response to this week's IHSAA ruling that would effectively require American Legion Post 168 Baseball to cut 7 players from its roster to be in compliance with the IHSAA Player Participation Rule 15-2. 2 .
The Post 168 Baseball team decided that it would rather not play than cut even one player from its roster.
They remain a team in the truest sense of the word !!

Post 168 Sweeps To Regional Title, Returns to State !! State Bracket
Post 168 beat Bristol Post 143 9-8 on Friday night behind the strong pitching performances of Jake Harrison and Max Majchrzak. Post 168 was down early 6-1 but cut the lead down to 6-4 in the 7 th inning. Bristol countered with 2 runs in the 8 th inning to stretch the lead to 8-4. But Post 168 battled back and scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 8 th inning on a bases clearing double by Matt Skura to take a 9-8 lead. That pro vided just enough cushion for Max Majchrzak to earn the save in the 9th.
On Saturday Post 168 beat the host team Plymouth Post 27 6-2 behind the strong pitching performance of TJ Hecimovich. TJ threw 8 solid innings , holding a Plymouth team that scored 18 runs the night before against Highland Post 180 to just 1 run. Eric Summers provided the big blast for Pos t 168 with a 3-run home run in the top of the 5 th inning. Max Majchrzak again closed out the ninth to seal the victory for Post 168. Tim Shanks also contributed with a hit and 2 RBIs and AJ Doyle was 3-5 on the day .
The championship game on Sunday pitted Post 168 against Plymouth Post 27 after Plymouth eliminated Bristol Post 143 in the losers bracket the night before . Post 168 pounded out 20 runs and 20 hits en route to a 20-13 victory. AJ Doyle set the pace driving th e second pitch of the game deep over the left field fence for a solo home run. AJ would finish the day 2-4 with 3 RBIs . Not to be outdone, Brett Keeler, Shane Colvin, Tim Shanks and Frank Ruvoli also made huge contributions at the plate. Keeler was 2-4 with 3 RBIs, Shane Colv in was 5-5 with 2 RBIs including a solo home run in the 7 th inning, Tim Shanks crushed a line-drive grand-slam over the left field fence and Frank Ruvoli, making a surprise start in right field, was 5- 5 with 4 RBIs.
POST 168 WINS SECTIONAL !!
Post 168 won the Crown Point Sectional Saturday with a 9-5 victory over Crow n Point Post 20 to qu alify for the Regional this weekend in Plymouth, IN. Post 168 plays its first game Friday August 1 st at 4:00pm eastern time at Bill Nixon Field in Centennial Park located in Plymouth, IN. Click here for the tourney bracket.
POST 168 JUNIOR WINS REGIONAL!!
Post 168 Junior Team won the 1st District Regional yesterday with a 7-4 victory over Crown Point Post 20 to qualify for the State Finals in Terre Haute. Post 168 Senior took a pair of games this weekend. On Friday night Neil Koricanac shut down Lowell Post 101 10-0 . He allowed no hits and struck out 6 to get his first win of the season. Offensive support was provide d by Kyle Kaluza (HR, 3 RBIs), Anthony Olund (2-4, 2B, 3B, 2 RBIs), Kevin Heinrich (2-3, 2B, 2 RBIs) T.J. Hecimovich (2-3), Frank Ruvoli (2-3, 2B), A.J. Doyle (2 runs, 2 RBIs).

Post 168 Junior Bests Cedar Lake Post 261
Behind a trio of solid pitching, the Post 168 Junior team ran their record to 5-1 by beating Post 261 by a score of 4-2. Billy Venturelli, Jacob Harrison, and Max Majchrzak combined to strike out 10 Cedar Lake batters, while only walking one. Venturelli went 3 innings and K'd 5, Harrison went 2 innings and K'd 3, and Majchrzak finished the final 2 innings and K'd 2. Offensively, the Junior team was led by a one man show named Matt Miller. Miller got the scoring going in the 2nd inning with an RBI triple to tie the score at 1 apiece. Then in the bottom of the 6th inning and the score tied at 2 with 2 outs, he doubled off of the right/center field wall to bring in 2 runners...which virtually won the game.

Post 168 Junior No-Hits East Chicago 12-0
Simon Webb (MHS) and Cody Dykema (LC) combined to no-hit East Chicago Post 369 last night at Lake Centr al. Webb struck out 6 EC hitters in 4 innings of work. Dykema was also 2-3 with 3 RBIs including a 3-run home run in the 2 nd inning. Kyle Ovanek was also 2-3 with a 2-run homer in the 3 rd inning. Billy Venturelli saved the no-hitter in the 5th when he threw a strike to first base after a spectacular barehand ed pickup of a slow roller narrowly beating the runner . Post 168 , 4-1, plays Cedar Lake Post 261 on Sunday June 15th at 11:00am at Lake Central. This weekend ' s scheduled double-header vs. Mishawaka Post 161 has been cancelled. REVISED SCHEDULE
Post 168 Senior Drubs Crown Point Post 20 12-1
TJ Hecimovich (MHS) held Post 20 to just one run over 5 strong innings of work . Hecimovich was in command the whole game. Post 20 ' s lone run came in the bottom of the 5 th inning. Post 168 scored 6 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Matt Skura hit a 3-run BOMB over the left -field fence to highlight the offensive barrage. The “ Players Lounge ” was lively with post game analysis and witty commentary. Post 168 Senior plays Lowell Post 101 Friday June 13 th at 6:00pm. Kurt Kudrecki (LC) pitched 6 strong innings shutting down Lowell Post 101 in American Legion Baseball action last night. Max Majchrzak pitched the 7th inning to get the save. Post 168 Junior is 3-1 on the season.
Post 168 Season Opens...FINALLY!
The Junior Team opened the season with a 5-2 win over Valpo Post 94 on Saturday. Jake Harrison (LC) was the star, holding Valpo to 1 run over 5 strong innings for the win. Simon Webb (MHS) notched the save. They face Highland Post 180 tonight at Lake Central. Game time is 6:00pm.
The Senior Team opened its season last night with 9-4 win over Hobart. Brandon Martin (BNI) held Hobart scoreless over three innings for the win. Kyle Scheffel (LC) pitched the final 3 innings (game shortened due to darkness) for the save. Brett Keeler (MHS) hit a monster home run over the left field fence. A tree prevented the ball from sailing over a single-family home on US Route 30!! The Senior Team travels to Lowell Post 101 tonight.

BRYAN BOKOWY
Bryan Bokowy is now 3-2 on the season for Butler University after a no-decision his last time out. Bryan was named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete-game victory against Wright State on March 17th.
BRETT SUMMERS
Sophomore Brett Summers started and took a loss in South Suburban College 's first game of the season. Brett threw 5 scoreless innings against a quality Olney Central College team that was 4-0 at the time before surrendering 4 runs in the 6th inning.
MATT DODARO
Sophomore Matt Dodaro leads Wabash College 's hitters. Period. Matt has a .352 average, 32 hits, 8 doubles, 6 HRs and 23 RBI in 23 games. Matt has a pair of grand slam home runs, and one HR off fellow Post 168er Brad Gerlach.
BRAD GERLACH
Freshman Brad Gerlach is second in appearances at DePauw; pitching in 11 of the team's 26 games. Brad is 1-2, picking up his first college win against Manchester College on March 11th. He has started his last two games.
RYAN FROST
Freshman Ryan Frost made the most of his first collegiate at-bat, drawing a pinch-hit walk with the bases loaded to spark a three-run ninth inning and lead the D3 No. 7 Marietta College baseball team to a victory. Ryan collected his first collegiate hit on March 20th. He is now 3 for 7 and has started 2 games in LF for Marietta
RANKO IVETIC
Valparaiso University freshman, Ranko Ivetic, allowed just one run in picking up his first collegiate win versus Chicago State . Ranko is 1-2 in his three starts this season.

Indiana State Champion Terre Haute Post 364 advanced to the American Legion World Series Championship. Terre Haute lost 6-4 in the final game of the championship series to Metairie, LA. Terre Haute eliminated Post 168 in 10 innings at the State Finals in Plymouth, IN and then swept through the National Regionals undefeated before finally losing a game in the World Series. Terre Haute finished 38-7. Congratulations to Coach John Hayes and a great Post 364 team!!
RANKO IVETIC SELECTS VALPARAISO UNIVERSITY
Post 168 lefty hurler Ranko Ivetic inked a 80% scholarship deal with Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. Ranko will pitch and play first base for the Division 1 Crusaders. Ivetic will be joining fellow Post 168 Baseballers Aaron Cameron (03), Russ Petersen (04) and Ross Petersen (05). You can still catch a glimpse of Ranko's magic in his final season with both Lake Central High School this spring and Post 168 this summer. GOOD LUCK RANKO!!
EAST CHICAGO AND HOBART REJOIN AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL
East Chicago Post 369 and Hobart Post 54 are coming back to American Legion Baseball in Northwest Indiana. East Chicago, which at one time boasted two powerhouse American Legion teams (Roosevelt Post 369 and Washington Post 266), will be managed by East Chicago Central varsity head coach Felix Torres and his staff. They will join Hammond Post 168, Highland Post 180 and Whiting Post 80 in the Northern Division of District 1. Hobart Post 54 is also resurrecting their American Legion team based out of Hobart High School. The team will be managed by Hobart High School Athletic Director Bob Glover. Post 54 will join recent newcomer (2005) Cedar Lake Post 261, Lowell Post 101, Valparaiso Post 94 and Crown Point Post 20 in South Division.

POST 168 ACCEPTS BID FROM KIMBERLY INVITATIONAL
After weighing many and various requests from tournament managers across the country, Post 168 Baseball has decided to accept a bid to appear for the 4th consecutive year in the Kimberly Invitational American Legion Tournament. This year’s tourney will be held from July 7th thru July 9th in Kimberly Wisconsin.
